Welcome to Kids Zone

First Time Guests

We look forward to seeing you in Kids Zone. Please know you are a welcome guest, and we hope you and your children have a wonderful experience.

Our staff and volunteers work hard to create a safe and meaningful class experience. Here are a few things that will help you have a successful time on Sundays.

·                 We recommend arriving 20 minutes before Mass begins. Please note that once Mass begins – registration for Kids Zone closes.

·                 To ensure your child receives the best care, we adhere to a one volunteer for every six children ratio. It may be necessary to limit the number of children admitted.

·                 When you arrive, please come to the Kids Zone area in the Parish Center and go directly to the Information Desk just inside the door.

·                 We will help you fill out a simple Registration Form At that time, please let us know of any allergies or health concerns.

·                 We ask that to make it easier for the transition of your child into Kids Zone that you not go past the Information Desk but permit your child to enter freely.

Pretty simple! Feel free to contact us with any questions. We look forward to having your children in Kids Zone.

Need to Know

Each Sunday, staff and volunteers work hard to create a safe and meaningful experience for your children. Here are a few things to help us:

·                 Doors will open 20 minutes before Mass. Program leaders will check in children until the start of Mass.

·                 Upon arriving, please complete the sign-in sheet at the door and make sure that all items that belong to your children are labeled. It’s important to inform the program leaders of any allergies or health concerns.

·                 Please wait until the conclusion of Mass, and do not pick up your children early, as it can be disruptive to other children and the classroom activities.

Enrollment Process

All are asked to fill out Registration Form at the Information Desk on their first day. The Information Desk is located at the main entrance to Kids Zone. When you visit again, you simply “check in” at the Information Desk.

Parents

We encourage you to take what your kids are learning in Kids Zone and talk about it all week long. We make it EASY!

At the beginning of each month, we will send home a Monthly Parent Card that highlights what we’re learning that month.

Check-In/Security Process

In order to provide the safest environment for your children while in our care, we follow a strict check-in process.

·                When you bring your children to Kids Zone, they will receive numbered security tags that will be clipped on to their shirts and diaper bags. You will receive tags with matching numbers. You must have these security tags in order to pick up your children. This is to ensure that no one picks them up without your permission. In the event we need to contact you during the Mass, an announcement with the security tag number will be made, no names will be mentioned.

·                   Staff and host team members monitor the entrances to Kids Zone before and after Mass. The doors are closed and locked once the Mass begins and are reopened only at the end of Mass. Once Mass begins no further registrations will be accepted – arriving early is crucially important. During Mass, a staff or host team member must escort anyone who needs to be in Kids Zone.

Snacks

We usually serve Goldfish™ and/or Cheerios™.  If your children have any allergies or special dietary needs and cannot eat what we have provided, please inform the adult leader and bring appropriate snacks for them.

Volunteer Procedures

·                 All of our volunteers go through a detailed screening process and criminal background checks. Many of our volunteers have trained professional backgrounds in Early Childhood Education and/or Teaching.

·                  Volunteers are never allowed in the bathrooms alone with children. They will assist them with clothing (as needed) outside the door and with hand-washing afterwards.

·                  A change table is present in Kids Zone itself. Should it become necessary to change a child this is done in the sight of two adults at all times. If your child is potty training, please be sure to communicate that to the teacher, and bring an extra change of clothes.

·                All volunteers have been trained in emergency procedures. Should it becomes necessary to leave the Church building during Mass (e.g. fire, evacuation), please do not go to Kids Zone to pick up your child. All members of our Children’s Ministry programs will be moved to the tree lined area in front of the rectory where procedures for safety and reuniting families are in place.

·               If you have any questions or concerns about our procedures and the safety of your child please speak directly with our Pastor.

   Wellness Policy

For the protection of all our children, please do not bring your children to Kids Zone if they exhibit any of the following:

·              Fever in the last 24 hours

·              Vomiting or diarrhea in the last 24 hours

·              Common cold (onset through one week)

·               Any unexplained rash

·                Cloudy or green runny nose

·                 Pinkeye or other eye infections

·                Persistent cough

·                Any communicable disease

·                 Any symptoms of common childhood diseases, such as chicken pox, strep throat, etc.

At registration our leaders reserve the right to refuse admission to Kids Zone if such are noticed. If you have questions about this decision please speak directly to the Pastor.

Things are starting to get busy at this stage of life. We plan to include a lot of jumping, singing, dancing, and laughter in every experience.

We look forward to helping your child learn more about God.
